Happy Pollinator ๐Ÿ Week! #PollinatorWeek is an Happy Pollinator ๐Ÿ Week! #PollinatorWeek is an annual celebration in support of pollinator health! Did you know there are over 20,000 species of bees in the US and only a few species build hives? Here are a few ways to help out your pollinators this week (after all, without them our gardens would be pretty sad)โ€“

๐ŸŒปPlant a pollinator garden โ€“ even if it's just incorporating a couple of native flowers into your existing landscaping!
๐ŸŒธOr, if you have more space, turn your yard into a wildlife habitat. This includes planting nectar- and pollen-producing plants for the pollinators as well as providing food and water sources for other types of wildlife.
๐Ÿฆ‹Whether you have just a few plants or a whole habitat, make sure you include things like milkweed and other important host plants.
๐ŸžMore generally, vary your plantings โ€“ include natives and a mix of annuals and perennials. Ideally, plan things out so you always have something flowering.
๐Ÿ“Grow organically! Learn up on natural pest and disease management so you can avoid chemical pesticides that harm our pollinator friends.
๐Ÿ Support other local organic gardeners, farmers, and beekeepers by shopping at Farmer's Markets or CSAs and buying local honey!
๐ŸŒพ Be vocal! Talk to your community about the importance of pollinators and advocate for pollinator-friendly policies with your town, apartment complex, HOA, etc.

A litte Summer Soltice garden glow up ๐ŸŒฑ Swipeโžก๏ธ for some baby seedlings on the Spring Equinox.

Every spring, I think there's no way my wee seedlings will be able to fill up all the beds. And every summer, I've proven wonderfully wrong. The garden is magic and I feel so blessed to get to help steward it.

The longer I garden, the more I feel called to lean into observing natural cycles and milestones like the Solstice. It feels like tapping into ancient wisdom for how our ancestors organized their lives. On the Solstice, I pause to observe and be thankful, to celebrate with friends and prepare for the garden work of the next few months. Perhaps I'll plant some sunflower seeds today.

Are you celebrating the Summer Solstice?

Spot the friend ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒป I haven't quite finishe Spot the friend ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒป

I haven't quite finished it yet, but I'm working on a bed along our fence line with five different varieties of sunflowers and celosia. It faces the spot on the patio where I sit and work through most of the warmer months, and it's gonna be ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ.

This is a Velvet Queen from @hudsonvalleyseedco I grew last year โ€“ and am definitely growing again!
